The AMPTP congratulated AFM on ratifying the Basic Theatrical Motion Picture and Basic Television Motion Pictures Agreements. The agreement – which was unanimously recommended by AFM’s negotiating committee – represents significant gains for musicians working in the film and television industry.
The deal, which AFM called “groundbreaking” for members, includes a first-ever streaming residual as well as guardrails and compensation around the use of AI. AFM President and Chief Negotiator Tino Gagliardi said the deal was a “monumental victory for musicians” and thanked AFM members and the AMPTP for coming to an agreement in 12 days of negotiations.
