O-1/O-2 Advisory Opinions

Guidelines for Requesting O-1/O-2 Advisory Opinions

AMPTP Guidelines and instructions are available for download here.

AMPTP Advisory Letter Request Form is available for download here.

Per AMPTP guidelines, which are available for download at the link above, all requests for O-1 and O-2 advisory opinions must be submitted in hard copy and accompanied by the processing fee in the form of a check or money order.

Please be further advised that, due to our building’s COVID procedures, the AMPTP cannot accept materials via hand delivery, in-person drop-offs, or messengers. If anyone attempts to enter the building, they will turned away. Please note, however, that USPS, FedEx, and similar delivery services remain acceptable options.

Please contact AMPTP Immigration via email if you have a question regarding whether the AMPTP is the appropriate management-side organization to issue a letter for a particular beneficiary or if you have received an RFE from USCIS.  Please include a plain language description of the beneficiary’s employment position and the type of production he or she will be working on.  We will then reply with an email stating whether the AMPTP is the correct management-side organization, which may spare you the cost and effort of sending a submission packet and fee to the AMPTP if we are not.

For some initial guidance, the AMPTP is not the appropriate management-side organization to issue a letter for beneficiaries working in the below fields/roles as they are not within the motion picture industry.  While the AMPTP can issue a letter to that effect (as has been the AMPTP’s practice), please consider whether such a letter is necessary or beneficial to an O-1 or O-2 petition before submitting a visa advisory letter request to the AMPTP.

The fields/roles include, but are not limited to:

·         Archives

·         Audiobooks

·         Augmented/virtual/immersive reality

·         Computer programmers/Pipeline/Software engineers

·         Conventions
